I don't know of there really is a process to writing. From my own experience, thinking about a process simply complicates things. So I just write. I think about my topic and start writing. After I finish a paragraph I go back, move some words around, and some nice words and try to make the sentences nice and smooth. In my opinion, thinking about writing before you begin a piece only makes it harder. I find it much easier to clear your mind of everything except for your particular topic and start writing. You will see that things will start coming to you very quickly.
There are the obvious steps of having good paragraphs with good transitions that may need some thought, but personally, I don't think getting started on the paragraphs needs much though. You just write. Just start writing and everything will come to you. From there, once you have your material, you go back and clean things up, making beautiful sentences and paragraphs.
